The Five W's of Skyline Innovations

Skyline Innovations has become increasingly relevant within the renewable energy sector by offering innovative energy solutions to small and mid-size businesses – a sector which has not only been underserved, but often lacks the resources and funds to take advantage of emerging solutions. Skyline circumvents these difficulties by providing a solution for customers to quickly, easily, and cheaply make the best energy choices to benefit their business.

Who

It’s amazing what can be accomplished when motivated individuals are able to join forces to accomplish something unprecedented. Our team brings with them a wealth of experience in the energy, consulting, project management, and finance industries - experience that’s been crucial in developing Skyline’s unique business model and culture.

“When you work hard in something you believe in it is called passion. When you work hard in something you do not believe in it is called stress.”

- Simon Sinek

What

Skyline Innovations provides a simple, affordable, and efficient way for small to mid-size firms to partake in operational cost reduction through renewables. Skyline implements photovoltaic and solar hot water systems in order to generate clean energy, which replaces the therms and electrons otherwise produced through the burning of fossil fuels and coal. Our product then acts as a solar utility that is placed on the customer’s roof. Instead of the customer purchasing energy from the utility, they will purchase that same energy from Skyline at a 20 – 40% fixed discount to the per unit price they would have paid the utility.

When

A few courageous individuals looking to carve their own way into the budding energy market created Skyline in August of 2009. Skyline began solely as a solar hot water developer – an industry largely untouched. This strategy turned out to bode well, as Skyline quickly became a fixture in the small solar-thermal market. We are now the largest solar thermal developer in the U.S., and you could say we’ve figured out how to do this quitewell. This past year, Skyline began participating in solar photovoltaic development and financing, and we’ve quickly taken a front seat in Washington, DC as well as California since the refunding of the popular Multifamily Affordable Solar Housing (MASH) Program.

Where

With offices in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Puerto Rico, Skyline is able to offer solar hot water and solar photovoltaic systems in a variety of markets. With a business model partially relying on state and federal incentives, Skyline often goes to where the funds are. For example, California has the California Solar Initiative (CSI) Program, a fantastic ratepayer funded project through which many businesses and homeowners are able to acquire solar. In Washington, DC there is a booming Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SREC) Program in which utilities and business are able to trade the renewable energy they produce in a sort of stock market. In the near future Skyline is looking to expand into the New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Delaware.

Why

Each and every day, Skyline’s solar hot water and solar photovoltaic systems are producing clean, renewable, and free energy. Each day these systems produce energy equivalent to taking hundreds of cars off the road, hundreds of homes off the grid, and tons of C02 out of the atmosphere.

We are making a change in the world one building, one system, one collector, one therm, and one kilowatt at a time. As for Skyline and the greater industry around us, for every barrier that’s broken down the next barrier becomes just a tiny bit easier to overcome.

From everyone at Skyline Innovations, we thank all of our customers, partners, and friends for taking part in this journey. Without the people that truly care about changing our world and environment we would be nowhere close to where we are today.
